(The answers to life’s biggest questions.)
Seach engine optimisation (SEO) is preparing your website to be visible and desirable to search engines like Google or Bing. There are three main areas that affect SEO:
On page SEO (Talk About Creative specialises in on page SEO)
Website structure and quality (we can recommend a web designer)
Off page backlinking and social media (we can help with social media strategy and management and recommend our virtual online advertising agency partners)
On page search engine optimisation (also known as content optimisation) involves organising your website content and metadata in a way that makes it visible and desirable to search engines.
"White hat" SEO is search engine optimisation that complies with the guidelines published by Google. Using "white hat" SEO minimises your chances of being deindexed (dropped from searches) by search engines or having your site importance downgraded in future search engine algorithm changes. All Talk About Creative SEO based services are “white hat”.
We could. Anyone could. Guaranteeing page one ranking is just a sales gimmick. We don’t do gimmicks. We do quality research and create quality content that is optimised for the keyword that best suits your business and budget.
You can be number one on Google tomorrow for the phrase “Elephant Telescopic Wednesday Brisbane” but nobody will ever search for it and if they did, it wouldn’t be someone looking for your product. There are dozens of individual metrics that determine which site will take out the number one slot on Google for any particular keyword – we set you up for your best shot to outrank competitors.
SEO copywriting is misunderstood. SEO copywriting is still copywriting – that is, sales copy written by a professional copywriter who understands the principles of marketing and uses these principles to make your product highly desirable. It just means that the copywriter also understands SEO and can incorporate it into your website text. Unfortunately, most SEO copywriting on the web would be better described as SEO gibberish (we can think of another word to describe it too… but let's keep it professional!).
Your keyword is the term that you wish to rank for in search engine results. It’s not always the most obvious term. Keyword research (included free in most of our copywriting services) factors in relevant search terms, the size of your business, how you wish to grow, your website marketing plan, your budget, any other SEO products you’re considering and the “strength or authority” of your website. We implement a keywording strategy designed to help you grow immediately, in the medium term and in the long term.
Example: Small business SEO or local business SEO
If you own a bakery in South Brisbane, you could pursue the number one slot for “bread” but it will cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars and many of your visitors will be seeking 1970s soft rock or 1980s Liverpudlian situational comedy.
The term "bakery, South Brisbane", (long keywords are known as long tail keywords) may only have a limited number of people searching for it but with a little guest blogging, press release writing, forum posting, blog commenting and some social media strategy in your spare time, you could reach slot one absolutely free and you’ll have a much better shot at sales conversion.
Inbound marketing (aka content marketing) is about using your website or blog content to target customers already seeking your product. Traditional marketing sends out a blanket message; content marketing targets those already searching, so the sale is initiated by the buyer – not the seller. This means better sales conversion rates. SEO is instrumental in reaching those Googlers.
When your keywords are turned into a link, they’re called “anchor text” – words that anchor a page. This anchor text is “read” by search engines so they know in which search results the page should appear. Generally, this is done when your anchor text link appears on other websites (known as backlinking) but for SEO purposes, it is done on your own website or blog too, and this is called internal linking. It is part of our website copywriting service.
Yep.
