Using the Rafflecopter Facebook App, a group of twenty four businesses organised a prize to cross promote our Facebook pages. This was done by baby products page Finlee and Me, Brisbane Graphic Designer, LBM Designs and Brisbane Kids, the HQ for things to do in Brisbane. The group was made up of both big pages and small pages (from fewer than 100 likers to 60 000 likers) but all with one thing in common: Target Market. The prize was specifically targeted to our shared target market and promoted in a way that appeals to them.
First of all, Talk About Creative has lots of great Facebook Likers. We're lucky to have a well engaged community, who are loyal and interested in our Facebook page. We're ESPECIALLY lucky to have a community that buys products and services from us - which is the biggest challenge for most small businesses on Facebook. The goal of this promotion however was to gain more likes.
This promotion runs the risk of being no better than a march or like ladder. To get maximum engagement from new fans, organisers hand selected businesses with like minded likers. Each page involved targets (in some capacity) 25-45 year old mothers. Although Talk About Creative is a B2B business, the demographic we target on Facebook is the WAHM demographic.
This is where social media for business can really boom - and is the source of converting social media management into sales. The single biggest mistake most businesses make on Facebook is to focus on selling to their likers. This is the root of many failures on Social Media. Networking with like minded brands aligns your brand with theirs in your liker's minds. It also positions you as "as big as" or "as clever as" or "as cool as" those other brands. By bringing together a selection of influential brands (as well as a few growing ones) and sharing our likers with them, we also share our "word of mouth". This meant hand selecting brands to participate.
This is a harder one to measure but might best be done by measuring the difference in the number of pages (and their likers) involved that have already/regularly shared the Talk About Creative brand, at commencement and after:
